These definitions apply to all Remote.It legal agreements, including the Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and Fair Use Policy. They are intended to ensure consistent interpretation across documents. If a conflict arises between this page and a specific legal agreement, the terms in that agreement take precedence.
Key Definitions
“Account” / “License” — A unique user account associated with a verified email address and granted access to the Service.
“AI Features” — Optional artificial intelligence-enabled capabilities, including Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations and similar features made available by Remote.It.
“Applicable Data Protection Law” — All laws relating to privacy, data protection, and information security applicable to the processing of Personal Data, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, the UK Data Protection Act 2018, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), and any successor legislation.
“Business Use” — Any use of the Service by commercial entities, institutions, or users acting on behalf of an organization, including LLCs, corporations, partnerships, schools, charities, or government bodies.
“Commercial Use” — Any use of the Service that involves income generation, revenue impact, operational deployment, or service resale, whether for-profit or not-for-profit.
“Connection” / “Connected” — A communication session established between authorized users, applications, or endpoints through the Remote.It Service using proxy, peer-to-peer, relay, or other supported connectivity methods.
“Customer” / “User” / “you” / “your” — Refers to the individual or legal entity using the Service.
“Customer Content” — Any data, applications, scripts, software, code, media, documents, communications, or other information transmitted or made available through the Service by or on behalf of a Customer.
“Data Controller” — The entity that determines the purposes and means of processing Personal Data.
“Data Processing Addendum (DPA)” — A supplemental agreement outlining the rights and obligations of Remote.It and Customers with regard to the processing of Personal Data. See: https://remote.it/legal/data-processing-agreement.
“Data Processor” — The entity that processes Personal Data on behalf of the Data Controller.
“Data Subject” — The individual to whom Personal Data relates.
“Device” / “Endpoint” — Any physical device, virtual machine, container, cloud resource, embedded system, application, or other network-accessible endpoint connected through the Service.
“Device Sharing” / “Sharing” / “Shared” — The act of allowing another Account to access or manage Devices linked to your Account.
“Device Sharing Limits” — The sharing limits applicable to a Subscription Plan as published by Remote.It from time to time.
“Free Plan” / “Personal Plan” — A Subscription Plan for non-commercial, individual use, which does not require payment.
“Maintenance” — Includes patches, bug fixes, updates, upgrades, and service improvements.
“Parties” — Refers collectively to you and remot3.it.
“Personal Data” / “Personal Information” — Any information that can be used to identify an individual, directly or indirectly. This includes but is not limited to names, email addresses, IP addresses, Device IDs, usage data, or any information as defined under Applicable Data Protection Law, including the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and successor privacy legislation.
“Personal Use” — Use by an individual not affiliated with or representing a business, government agency, school, non-profit, or any other organization.
“remot3.it” / “Company” / “we” / “us” / “our” — Refers to remot3.it, Inc., a company incorporated in Delaware, United States.
“Service” / “Remote.It” — Refers to the websites, applications, software, APIs, developer tools, Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations, and related services available at https://remote.it, https://app.remote.it, and other Remote.It-owned domains or subdomains.
“Subscription Fee” / “Paid” — Refers to a recurring payment made by a Customer for access to advanced features of the Service.
“Subscription Period” / “Subscription Term” — The valid time span of a Subscription Plan, such as 31 days (monthly), 365 days (annually), or otherwise agreed in writing.
“Subscription Plan” / “Plan” — The specific level of Service purchased by a Customer, including Free, Professional, Business, Enterprise, or any successor plans offered by Remote.It.
“Website” / “Websites” — Includes all domains and subdomains associated with the Remote.It service, such as https://remote.it and https://app.remote.it.
Change Management
This page may be updated from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date accordingly. Where definitions materially impact your rights or the interpretation of a legal agreement, those changes will be reflected in the updated version of the relevant agreement.
